Eating Cheap in Brighton
67The UK is an expensive place to eat out in and Brighton is certainly no exception. However with two universities and a large tourist industy there is plenty of scope for eating cheaply if you have the knowledge.
This is not meant to be a full guide to eating out, but more a list a few of my favourite places to eat out in Brighton without spending too much money.
Bombay Aloo
This is an eat as much as you like Indian restaurant. It serves delicious vegetarian food for under a fiver in a rather strange old Spanish restaurant. I love eating here it is always full of hustle and bustle, people jostle around to compete for acess to the large steaming pots of curry.
Bombay Aloo is just off North St on Ship St.
Kambis
Kambis is a Lebaese restraunt and kebab shop in Western Brighton. It serves a good range of mediteranian dishes at very reasonable prices. It is a favourite among large groups of people so you may want to book ahead!
Kambis is on Western Road just beyond Waitrose.
China China
If you want cheap Chinese food, you can't go wrong with China China. A large menu of all the usual favorites, a meal for two should cost under £20!
It is always busy so be warned, but being on Preston Street, the location of many cheap restarants, means that you will find many alternatives if you don't get a seat.
China China is midway down Preston Street.
Casa Don Carlos
This is a Spanish Tapas restaurant situated in the heart of the South Lanes. It has a great ambience, most dishes are between £3 and £6, I find 2 to 3 each is plenty! There is a great view of the lanes from inside which will keep you entertained while you eat.
Food tastes great and there a great choice.
Casa Don Carlos is in the South Lanes at 5 Union Street
The Little Buddha
This is one of two Thai restaurants in the Severn Dials area, while the other one, Red Snapper, is by far the better when it comes to quality, the Little Buddha is far cheaper and the food is very good none the less.
The dining area is small and occasionally a single party may take up the whole area so like Kambis, be prepared to seek alternative if you dont book.
All the favourites are there from pad thai to green curry. I am not convinced that the cooks themselves are Thai, however the food tastes good enough and with standard dishes being around £6, you can't go wrong.
The Little Buddha is situated on Ditchling Rise near Severn Dials.

Yes, Casa Don Carlos is lovely. Good service and the food is delicious. I could eat a whole bowl of those potatoes with chili sauce. Now I want some!
